Friday Night Funkin' is a rhythm game where you hit keyboard strokes that correspond to music notes. You need to be better and more accurate than the computer challenger to ensure that you win. While the base game only comes with seven levels, this game allows for people to create mods and new levels.

Main Features

Friday Night Funkin', better known as FNF, is a rhythm game where you need to hit keyboard keys that match music notes. This is similar to Dance Dance Revolution or PaRappa the Rapper. The point of the game is to hit the keys quickly and accurately enough to beat your opponent.

Each level will put you against a different opponent. Each opponent has his own skill level and look. This will keep the game fresh as each level looks completely different. The first few levels are fairly easy, but FNF quickly becomes very challenging.

Single Player

This is only a single player game. It doesn't matter if you're playing the base game or a modded version. You can only face off against a computer-controlled opponent. Some people like this because it allows you to hone your skills against predictable opponents that are always the same. Others would have preferred being able to play against other people.

The base game comes with seven different opponents. each one looks completely different, which makes the game interesting as no two levels are identical.

Open Source Game

This game is free and open source. FNF has a large community of people dedicated to making completely new opponents and levels. This ensures that the game is always fresh and exciting. While there are only seven base opponents, there are dozens of others that you can face by installing a mod.

Adding mods to your game is fairly easy. If you have modded other games in the past, then FNF will seem very easy to change. If you haven't, then there are detailed instructions that you can follow. This is a lightweight game, so mods shouldn't make the game run any slower.

Challenging Gameplay

FNF has a simple concept that gets very challenging. You simply have to match keyboard strokes to the music notes. It only takes a few seconds to learn how to play the game. What makes it so challenging is that the game will quickly throw hundreds of notes at you at ever increasing speeds. This keeps you on your toes throughout the entire match. Not only that, but the computer opponents get harder and more skillful with each round.

While you can learn the game in seconds, you'll need hours to truly master it.

Types of Music

FNF primarily features electronic dance music, or EDM, hip-hop and rap. If you are playing the base version, then the songs do not change. Each level has its own song and it will be the same no matter how many times you play that level. While this allows you to master the beat, it can become repetitive after a while.

Be sure to use mods to change the music. This will give you more variety.
